Qld: Tributes flow after Brisbane's father Clem Jones dies

Tributes are flowing in after the death of former Lord Mayor CLEM JONES .. the man
credited with transforming Brisbane from a dunny-house backwater into a vibrant .. modern
city.

The 89-year-old .. once known as MR BRISBANE .. died from pneumonia at the Wesley Hospital
early today after a long bout of ill health.

He was Brisbane's longest serving mayor .. leading the city from 1961 to 1975 .. and
will be honoured in a state funeral next week.

Prime Minister KEVIN RUDD .. a close personal friend .. led a long list of tributes
to the Labor stalwart.

Queensland Premier ANNA BLIGH says CLEM will long be remembered for his vision and commitment.
