NSW: Aceh protest Australia s support of Indonesia

SYDNEY, Jan 20 AAP - Demands for independence in the northern Indonesian province of
Aceh reached Sydney's streets today.

More than 100 Acehnese gathered under pro-independence banners outside the Australian
Department of Defence in Pitt Street, in Sydney's CBD, and shouted for the Australian
government to cut military ties with Indonesia.

Student activist Kautsar, visiting from the province, said world media reports of religious
and racial infighting in the region were false.
