Vic: Jury resumes deliberations in double police slaying case
A Victorian Supreme Court jury's resumed its deliberations in the trial of two menaccused of a double police slaying.
The seven women and five men have resumed deliberations this morning after they werereleased at noon on December 24 to celebrate Christmas with their families.
BANDALI MICHAEL DEBS, aged 49, of Narre Warren, and JASON JOSEPH ROBERTS, aged 22,of Cranbourne, have pleaded NOT GUILTY to the murders of Sergeant GARY SILK, aged 35,and Senior Constable ROD MILLER, aged 34.
The two policemen were gunned down on August 16, 1998 during a surveillance operationset up to trap two men responsible for a series of armed robberies in Melbourne's south-east.
The Crown alleges DEBS and ROBERTS also committed the armed robberies.
Today is the third day of deliberations after the jury retired to consider their verdictson Monday following a trial of more than four months.
